Questions for Left handers w/ dominant right eye.

I am a left hander, but shoot a shotgun right handed because 1- thats how I was taught. 2 - my right eye is my dominant eye.

I was wondering if there is anyone else that does the same and how you shoot a pistol.

When i hold it in my left hand it feels natural, but it feels weird to try to use my left eye.

I've always been told to shoot with your dominant eye. It doesn't matter which hand is dominant. I shoot right handed because it feels natural. I really don't know which eye is dominant. Every time I try to check it I come up with a different answer. One time it will come up my left eye is dominant the next it will be my right. I think I have a very week dominance towards my left eye.

I shoot the rifle/pistol left eyed (handed) but have shot right handed when called for. I shoot right hand (right eyed) compound bow but only because I figure its easies to sell later on. No big deal really just cant shoot w/ both eyes open like I could if shooting a left handed bow. Its all about what you train your body to do and I think its a good idea to atleast be able to do either.

When I was younger I shot left handed when shooting rifles and shotguns. My brother-in-law asked my why I shot lefthanded and I told him I couldn't see the sights good when I shot it right handed. He told me to close my left eye and try it, been shooting right handed ever since.LOL I am left eye dominant but I still shoot right handed, long guns and pistols. I have to close my left eye to keep from really messing up.

Most right handed ppl are left eye dominant and left handed ppl are right eye dominant.
I'm right handed and shoot every thing right handed. I can wink with either eye :lol: so I use my right eye ... no big deal. Squinting the left keeps the vision but gives the right dominance.

Practice makes it better in a real situation !

If you want to train an eye to be more dominant try taking an old pair of clear shooting/safety glasses and put black tape over the eye side you don't want to use - practice shooting with both eyes open. Over time you might be able to shoot with both eyes open comfortably

I'm left handed and right eye dominant. I shoot everything right handed with both eyes open. And I used to shoot professionally.

Interestingly, my father is right handed and left eye dominant. He grew up shooting right handed and was fair at best. The military (Korean War Vet) determined he was left eye dominant and taught him to shoot left handed and he became an excellent shot.

If your right eye is dominant then you need to shoot right handed.
