I have a boat with twin 150hp Evinrude Fichts, 1998 motors with both 2000 factory replaced powerheads (sorry, I cant get the serial numbers right now). The port motor has been sounding a little "different" then the strbrd motor for the last few months, just a slightly different tone when idling. Last month when I had the boat out, the port motor started running a little rough and would no longer run above 4000 rpms. When I put it in neutral the idle speed hunts up and down between about 1500 and 3500 rpms. I never got a check engine light and since I was about 30 miles offshore, I had to run it back to the marina. When I got back, it was idling even rougher and I noticed there was black soot around the port motor exhaust outlet and transom. The only other issue is that the motor has been leaking oil from the front near the oil lines/pump and its been doing this for a long time.
I took it to a shop and just got a call from them saying that it needs an oil lift pump ($394.97) and an oil injector manifold ($1174.97). These prices are for parts only.
Do these parts sound like it would fix the running issue? And do the prices sound reasonable?
Thanks
Clyde
