    Painting aluminum lids

I want to repaint the inside of the lids on my Stratos and was wondering what th eproper steps are.. I assume that Stratos did not powder coat them, right? They still have 99% of the paint on them so I was thinking of just scuffing up with a scrotch brite pad and then repainting.. Does this sound good? any special paint to use? how about a clear coat?.. thx

If the lids are in bad shape, you might want sand down to bear aluminum and use a zinc chromate type primer. It will help bind your finish paint to the aluminum.

They are not in bad shape but I was considering using a soda blaster on them and refinishing... Can I get a zinc chromate primer anywhere or just at auto shop? thx
