    need some advice

This is a picture of the main stringer under where the batteries are, there were bolts into one of the stiffner boards and it cause that to rot and allowed some rot to get to the stringer. Do you think it woul be ok to dry out the wood on the stringer and reglass it?

Replace it now or it will spread to all your stringers. And hope it hasnt allready. I have the top cap off my boat as we speak replacing ALL of my stringers because of the first owners blind eyes. And he covered his up but didnt help. Put it this way i was the sucker who bought his problems and didnt know it until i went to replace the carpet

I think it looks worse in the pic than it acutally is. About 85 to 90 percent of the wood is still there.

I think what these guys are trying to say is that once the fungus that causes the rot has taken hold, it will continue to destroy the wood. If you glass over this spot, it will continue to rot under the freshly laid glass. Since you've put in the work already to uncover this problem, you might as well go the extra step and fix it right. Don't want to have to just redo it later.
