    Restoring top cap question

I can buff the white haze off my top cap but in a few days it's back. Seems like most refinishing info I read has to do with metal flake gel coat finishes. It seems most ProCraft boats I've seen are not metal flake. What is the best thing to use on them? Can I use a strong grit rubbing compound and them polish? Or should I wet sand, use rubbing compound and then polish? How about wet sanding and then shooting it with clear coat? I just want it to look wet all the time.
