Going to replace the carpet in my 896 Savage. I'm thinking of going with the 20 oz carpet. Is this a good quality carpet or should I go to a 24 or 28 oz carpet?

You should probably try to find out what weight carpet is currently in the boat. In MOST cases you can get by with moving up a size or two on the carpet weight. The biggest issue is normally getting your lids to shut. But, you can normally trim the carpet around the edge to solve this.

im assuming your use to have 16oz carpet in your boat, if so going with a 20 oz carpet wouldnt be a big chance and would be just fine. i had 16oz carpet in mine, then went to a 24oz. it took a little trimming on the edges with clippers but the lids open and close just fine once they get matted down. id go with the thicker 24oz carpet from basscat if it were me.![]()
I'm not sure what weight carpet is in it now. Does anyone know what weight carpet they used in the 96 Nitros?
I don't know what I had before in mine but I went with 24oz after seeing a 20oz sample. Get a couple samples from who ever your going to buy from and wrap it around one of your lids. You really need a sample anyway to make sure the actual color is what you want. Different brands may be a different shade of the same color.
I'm currently re-carpeting my 2000 929 and called nitro and they stated the stock carpet was 16 ounce.I'm putting in 20oz from bassboatcarpet.com...
