Posted this on the Stratos side....not much help...

I have a 1990 Stratos 285 Pro and just probably discovered the most irratating thing in my boat possible. Water. I need to fix it but was curious how do take care of the problem. My boat has had issues with RPMs after i had the motor rebuilt and I imagine it was because it sat outside for 3 months. Well here are the images let me know what yall think. Let me know what i need to do.

Well you could have one of several issues, could be a crack in the hull allowing water to seep in behind the stringer, but by the looks of it Id say you most likely have a bunch of wood rot behind the glass and the flotation foam is soaked as well, the wood is rotted and holding water slowly seeping out.

With the age of the boat rot is HIGHLY likely .. Ive seen very few boats that old that dont have any or very little rot.
With out seeing the boat it would be very hard to give you much more help than this.

If you have a local fiberglass boat repair shop , take it to them to get their opinion / estimate.

well i was told to drill through the stringers??? and create a drain for it and let the foam wick dry??? does this sound suitable...the man is a very knowledgeable person but just wanted to get a second opinion.

You could drill a hole into the stringer, but you will need to seal the wood if it is dry, with epoxy ( Devcon 2 ton) or you will rot out the stringer over time drilling a hole, but the hole you drill you may discover that the stringer is rotted all ready.

I would use a hole saw about one inch diameter, this way you can get your finger in there to spread the epoxy around the inside of the hole once the water drains out.
