    VRO fuel pump rebuilds

Anybody tried one of the rebuild kits for these pumps for fuel issues ? I have a 1998 200 Johnson that the pump has gone done on and I found a few places that offer rebuild kits in my search for a new one. Just curious if they are a waste of money or not. I know there's very little to replace inside the pump. thks

50/50 success ratio but cheaper than a new one. If you decide to do it follow the instructions to a "T".

So where are these things actually failing. I've broken down a few including this one and am yet to find any visible signs of failure. thks

You really can't see the issue as it is microscopic. And not visble to the naked eye.

Re: VRO fuel pump rebuilds (ChampioNman)

Looks like I was on the wrong end of the 50/50 chance that the kit would work. I have made multiple attempts to make the kit work but still having no luck. It will however pump up hard now and pretty much stay there but will run out of gas at idle in a couple of minutes. I went ahead and replaced the fairly new primer bulb with a new OMC bulb but unfortunately still no help. Is there anything else that sticks out that may be causing this before I go out and buy the new pump ? Appreciate any help. thks

Next I would try a remote tank hooked up, could be a bad check valve at tank or bad gas line.
