    silver boat turning green

I have an 04 zx 250 that i just bought two weeks ago, the more i look at it the more i notice areas that the sun didnt hit are silver and the other areas have a yellow or green tint. I have tried 3m's fiberglass restorer and wax with a crafstman orbital buffer but only shined it up instaed of getting back to silver,i am hoping it's not a wet sanding job. any ideas?

silver is real tough in my opinion. Never could get the silver back on an Astro I had awhile back. I'm sure someone here will have an answer. Is it sun fade? or dried out?

The sun has changed the color of the clear gel coat. It's the same reason they do not put clear gel coat on a white boat, because it would turn yellow. Clear can be used on darker gel coats because the yellowing won't be noticed. They have to use clear with polyflakes. When the color is lighter, like silver, the yellowing of the clear is more noticable. Keep the boat waxed and covered and it shouldn't get any worse. Unfortunately, I don't know what could be done to correct the problem other than having the boat professionally re gel coated.
Maintain it well, fish hard and enjoy the boat. It's going to get marked up and aged over the years no matter what you do.

heres how you can get the oxidation off i own a white boat and it has a gel coat and the previous owner didnt like to well take care of it and it had bad yellow oxidation where the boat sat in the water

Me and my buddy after trying about 60 different cleaning products found one that actually works get some bleach in a spray bottle thats slightly watered down get a buffer makes life alot easier then take Some comet and put it on the buffer pad and buff it on and it will remove almost all the oxidation it didnt harm my gelcoat at all but if your worried do it in a small spot first let me know how it works out Enjoy
