That is a nice looking color change on the Gambler.
What product did you use for the colors and gloss?
The paint was Chroma base. Base coat and clear coat. 4 coats of white, 3 of clear with Gold metal flake and 4 coats of just clear. The hull is going to be painted with a kind of paint called concept. Guys at the local paint shop said it was pretty durible, and safer to paint than imron.
I guess when it's done you can call it the "Rushville Rocket".![]()
Nice job so far BTW.![]()
Ya my dad and I are big Tony fans. I favor Dale JR.. Think on our 88 Gambler we are going to go with either Black and Orange or with white and orange. Never seen an orange G-boat think it would look really sharp.![]()
Man that's going to be sharp. Make to sure to post final pics once she's done.![]()

87,
That looks very good, I am curious as to how hard it was to do the color change...
I have a 96 that was regalssed a year or two back that is a red color...and am interested in changing it to a black and tan or something along those lines.
This isn't something I would probably attempt myself but more trying to get a ideal on how much labor is involved...
Also if you would reccommend a shop in central or southern IN..
Again looks great...!
Thanks
Kevin
kbiddle, as far as recommending a shop i have not a clue on any shop here in Indiana. For the color change really wasnt that hard of a job just alot of prep work with pulling the cap from the hull, removing carpet gauges deck lids etc. My dad owned and ran his own body shop for 15 years so he has experience with paint. I would say my dad and I have about 200 to 300 hours in the boat, and thats counting tear down, prep, and paint. We have not started the hull yet, probly this coming week end we are going to turn it over and start filling and sanding. We have been thinking about taking on some boats to do for others like yourself, but we want to see the total outcome of ours, and to see what other people think about our work. Feel free to ask any question, I might be able to help!! Good luck with your boat!!![]()
