    Question about fishing

I thought I would ask a question, Not looking for any secret baits or special honey holes but I don't understand how some guys can go out and seem to always bring in a limit on the Kanawha. I mostly fish out of the Cheasapeake ramp and I always catch good numbers of fish but no matter where I go on the river I can never seem to find a limit of Keeper sized fish. I get to spend about 15 - 20 hours a week fishing and even in a weeks time I am lucky if I would manage to find a limit. I try finesse fishing, cranking, throw jigs and tubes and everything else I can buy at Sportmart and still never seem to find decent sized fish. The only style of fishing that I don't do is "offshore" fishing. Is this where I go wrong? I have tried throwing bigger baits hoping for the bigger fish and all I get it the smaller ones tearing legs and tails off of platic baits and trying to eat others that are bigger than them. Do the guys that seem to always have a limit really have to work for them all day long or do they just kinda seem to come easily? I know some of you guys are good fisherman so any little help you all may be able to offer me would be greatly appreicted becasue I am getting a little frustrated with all the 6 inch fish I seem to be catching...lol.

    Re: Question about fishing (MonarkMcFaster)

Jason I am by no ways a pro bass fisherman nor have I ever fished the Kanawha
River But I have fished many rivers & lakes where it was hard to find or catch keeper size fish. Changing your styles of fishing isn't your problem cause each one of them styles will catch keeper fish at times.

You might want to change your fishing strategies When you catch a keeper fish.
Fish that area harder a lot of time there will be more bass around the same size in that place Also take note at what was different about that place then the other places Example: There may be wood mixed with grass Or rocks off a ledge, A change in water temp. deeper water what ever.
But there's usualy something different that is holding bigger fish. Finding what they are holding too is the task you need to work on. If you spend 15-20 hours a week on the river Keep a log as to everything about the spot you caught your keeper bass in & it will not take long you'll start seeing there was something different from where you caught the smaller fish Then keying on them differences will but more keepers in your boat

Well this has been a day on the river with Goose I hope I've helped by giving you all the useless information I know. If I can confuse you again just let me know

    Re: Question about fishing (goose)

Goose, Thanks for the reply. I have starting keeping a log now and trying to pay more attention to detail. I enjoy "Power" fishing and keeping the boat moving but have been trying to slow down some on spots I catch the better fish. Give me a little time and I will let you know if I am doing any better.

    Re: Question about fishing (mrshadetree0222)

Mrshadetree, i appreciete the offer. The keeper fish I am talking about is a 12" minumim size fish to keep for wiegh in at a tournamnet. If you ever hear bass fisherman speaking of a keeper that is what they are refering too. By the way let us know how you done at weekend. hope you didn't get rained on.
