Any of you guys fish Presque Isle Bay? I am from WV and thinking about taking a trip up there this spring, was wondering when would be a good time and is the fishing good ? Thanks

The week end of May 24,25, 26th, and 27 and maybe later June 7, 8, 9 and 10th though about doing two trips , went last year the week end of the 4th of July , caught lots of largemouths , but would like to catch a few big smallmouths hopefully. Its a great place to fish !

should catch some smallies in the bay in may... you know some spots or what???

I have no idea as to where to catch the smallmouths , or what to catch them on any help would be great .

I can't give info specifically on smallies but in general you can catch some fish with the info... go there often? or ever before??

Been once , the weekend of the 4th of July last year , caught a lot of nice largemouths, but would like to catch a few smallmouths , they give you a better fight , plus would like to catch one over 5 lbs. stayed in the bay , maybe thats why I did not catch any smallies.

in may you can catch smallies in the bay, but if you want to load the boat go to the LAKE!!!. Me and a partner weighed 26.12 pounds there last year in a tourny with a total per team six fish limit. i caught a 6 pounder in a tourny there last year in aug. have fun!!

I have been looking out the window at it for 8 months without being able to fish it

Leaving for Erie in a few hours but the weather does not look to good as a big front just moved through the last two days and packed a lot of rough weather so I beleive fishing will be real hard as it is only going to be 63 for a high saturday and cloudy with chance of showers and Sunday 67 and partly sunny.

I had a great trip for the weather we had.
Sat 47 degrees rain showers all day 15 mph winds 2 footers in the bay with whitecaps all day. Boated 8 largemouth the smallest being about 14 inches biggest about 18". Most people did not catch any fish from what I heard. All fish except 2 came on jearkbaits with a long pase between jerks and white quad blade spinnerbait

Sunday morning about 9:30 ( stupid bike race has island all tied up 1 1/2 hours to get to the ramp after we made a wrong turn and the bike race organizers desided to not let traffic use the only road off the island till I told them I will get my congressman involved for lettings cars on island during then telling them they cannot leave because of the bike race) got on the main lake in about a 1 foot chop and my father boated a real nice smally ( not a erie toad but real nice)and then I boated a average smally a bit smaller than his then they shut off as the wind and waves kicked up 25mph winds and the shute to the lake had 3 foot waves at least and you have to idle only through it about 1/2 mile into the waves yes we got wet the bay was rough also to say the lease so we went to our spot where I pulled 5 fish from yesterday and pulled another largemouth from it and 2 more down the shore on the same quad spinnerbait. I was pleased with the trip as it was my first visit to Erie in April ever.
