I had planned to leave early, but it was too cold and windy (memories of the Mid-West Rally). Loaded in at the Point ramp about 10:30 AM. Wind is still blowing with gusts to 30 MPH. I decide rather than head out on to the main lake, to fish the Rock Creek arm and see what the wind would do. Went up to the third point north of the ramp and started. Second cast, with a Storm 3 1/2 inch Wild-eyed Shad swimbait I caught a 7.5 lb. bass! She looked to have just spawned out.
Spent the next three hours fishing those three points closest to the ramp and caught 7 keepers plus some dinks and some Sandbass. All came out of 5 feet or less of water on that same swimbait. Then fished the long point which you encounter as you come back to the Point ramp from the dam. Fished both sides and caught five more keeper bass, together with more Sandbass a one nice Crappie.
Water was a little muddy which I think helped. Lake is usually very clear. Water temperature was about 68 degrees. Pleasure boaters were already out so you have the watch out and be prepared to ride the wakes.
