    RPMs Increase in Neutral

Occasionally I experience a significant increase in RPMs when I put my boat in neutral. It mostly happens after I've been on plane. In fact it happened the other day when I put the boat in reverse while trying to position it on the trailer. It shot me back off the trailer.

Normally I'm idling through a no wake zone and I go to put it in neutral. That is when the engine proceedes to increase in RPM. Please note that while in gear and idling RPMs are normal. Please help.

Also note that when I trailered the boat I noticed a little bit of fuel coming out of the water intakes. Please help.

    Motor is a 2000 Evinrude Ficht 225
    Model No - 225FPLSSC
    Ser No - G04756722
