Working on my friends 1995 evinrude 90hp v-4. It has sat a few years and wont start. Heres the background of what Ive replaced/ tested, and checked.
Initally: drained fuel and cleaned inside of tank then filled with fresh. Replaced primer bulb and line, drained oil and replaced with fresh, replaced spark plugs, removed carbs (cleaned and re kit, new seals, jets, needles (no blocked passages).
Then attempted a start, got close it spins, produces exhaust, and ran for about 10 seconds at one try. Then battery died. So I went ahead and checked to make sure throttle plates fully closed, set roller cam and sync marks. Retried to start, noticed fuel leaking from "electronic mixer thing", so took it off and checked it out, found some trash on a seal, got it cleaned up and its no longer leaking, was leaking when you primed it. Performed a compression check had 90-100 psi each cyl. (cold motor never got it running). Checked for spark by grounding a plug to the head, has spark. From here im wondering if my inital ignition timing is off, and causing it to not fire at the correct time, i played with the adjustment blindly and no go. Also dont wanna mess with it too much and screw somthing up. Any quick checks or advise? Sorry for the long post, just covering it all to reduce simple questions. Thanks in advance.
