    Burchard

Looks like there is a good chance it will be closed for this year. Guess the NRD had their meeting last night and if they can find a contractor soon enough they will be drawing the lake down 10 feet and fixing the leak in the dam. Also they will construct some jetties and put in a new double wide boat ramp. More to come

As of now, they say it could close as early as March...

closing early Spring thru Spring 2013. They will fix the leak, build a new double ramp, and add jettie to protect ramp as well as add structure.

Think its going to mean more traffic down. An improved dock for the boaters and jetties for the boatless which means they can get out past the grass. Oh well.... why not ruin (in my opinion) the best bass lake in southeastern NE

Here is some more info: http://outdoornebraska.ne.gov/...eting/

Maybe the rattlesnakes down there will keep the bank fisherman away if they get all up in the rocks!

no way would I fish the bank with all those snakes. I was coming in one day and saw a big one on the ramp so I took it as a sign to go back fishing for an hour or two. When I came back that had to be the quickest time I ever loaded my boat!

I was camping down there years ago and fished from the bank and saw two of them. Made it hard to fish with both eyes looking on the bank.

with the water down 10' I would think your going to have to cast across a fair amount of silt and mud. Then if you catch a fish it will be an adventure to release it back in water.

I have seen one snake at that lake. Not sure what kind it was and didn't stick around to find out.

Only problem is - you cant fish it at all while it is being renovated. So catching and releasing a fish wont be a problem, cause you cant!
