    dropshotting

Hey all. I've been thinking of trying dropshotting out at Walnut Creek. Anyone ever tried this? I haven't had much experience with dropshotting, but I figure this lake might be a good place to practice it.

It"s a great technique especially when the bite is tough. Don't even try it if the water isn't clear to lightly stained and light line is the only way to go. I use it alot up here in Michigan when the bite is tough and it produces.

Cool. Walnut Creek is a pretty small lake and always windy. Lots of trees and old fence rows in it. Was thinking of dropshotting down the sides of those trees.

Eric..............I D-Shotted in Walnut couple years ago just to try it........only caught 2-3 fish on it but had to use very bright colors for them to see it!!!!! and it had to be right next to trees..........it is not a good presentation for most of the lakes in this area at all but if you go to Milford or somewhere with clearer water it works well.

One thing you can do is fish it shallow....yes shallow. Use a larger weigh like a 3/8oz weight & only put 6" betwwen weight and hook........go to a tapering bank(no structure) and pitch it shallow.........drag it out slowly like a c-rig but it will keep the bait 6" off bottom.....shake it while you do it works similar to shakey head but littel diff look.

I caught my biggest Lake Fork bass last year with a drop shot. It was not clear water, but I marked the fish in 23' of water. When I see active fish they will usually bite. I was using 8lb test and a jerk shad.
