Boy it was great to get back out on the water this morning. We left the house at 4:00am
and was on our favorite top water point at 5:20am. We camped out on it for about an
hour before the bass moved in. When they did it was awesome. I caught several
schoolers on a spook and Paul caught a nice big fat kentucky on a skitter pop. The sun
got bright and hot about 7:15am. We caught a few crank bait fish as they started
heading for deeper water. Then around 10:30 they settled to the bottom and started
eating the grub pretty good. I had 3 big fish break me off. I'll be buying different line
and respooling before my next trip.

Then I caught this smallie with a broken back.....
All in all it was a great morning. We didn't tear them up, but we did catch several
fish and had a ball.
NICE FISH!

What areas do you fish there around the 'knob? Took a drive down there last weekend and want to give it a shot.

I fish it all!!! My favorite area is in the middle of Big Creek. Lots of points, pockets and
coves. And fish!!
There around Big Bay? We drove down there and checked out the ramp, looks to bea free access provided by the US Forestery?

Yeah, dat scenery looks familiar to me.......
I'm not sure about the free access, I always hang my park access card. If there isn't a collection box or someone in a park booth, I guess it's free launch. It's definitely a funky ramp to back down. No courtesy dock either, that is if your by yourself.

I'd run up to Piney Creek and fish salty craws at night. June is a great time to really
hammer them at night. Also try Wooley Creek and Little Wooley. Buzzard Branch is
good. And so is that last timbered cove on the right before you make the big left turn
going toward Hideaway. Throw a Spook or a Jointed Red-fin out over that long clay
point before you get to the Buttermilk Springs area.
Steve, that big cove on the right is exactly that BIG. You could spend all night there. Can't remember the name of it. My dad calls it cigarete cove for some reason. Stay out of that cove it's dangerous and not any good.
