Not really interested in a Pro-Staffers point of view but I am interested in what people buy and why they buy it. I only tried Berkley Fireline and was less than impressed with it (years ago)...

30 and 50lb power pro. I do not like fireline or spiderwire at all. This year I did use some Suffix 832 and really liked it. Its more expensive than Power Pro, but I'll probably move more reels to 832 next year.
Tried most all of them...Power Pro for me.
Suffix 832 10# with floro leader (shakey head)
Suffix 832 20# with floro leader (texas Rig)
Suffix 832 20# topwater
Suffix 832 50# Swimbait & Frogs
Power Pro or diawa samuari braid.

Agreed, tried most of them and always come back to power pro![]()
I use Stren Sonic Braid. I have used others and liked most. I stumbled on the Stren and liked it...Then caught a couple of sale's at Dick's and got more dirt cheap. Haven't had a reason to swith to anything else.
My advice would be to stay away from the flat, waxy lines (like a Spiderwire Stealth). It tends to grab and get split up and frayed by treble hooks.
I buy the cheapest stuff I can when I "need" it...which is usually just when I'm carolina rigging or throwing a frog in a tournament.
I hate it otherwise.
Suffix 832 or PP

Am currently using Power Pro and Suffix 832 but will be changing over to the 832 for all my braided line use.

I thought I would be on Easy Street by now but somehow I missed the off ramp!
Question everything!
I have tried them all and like Power Pro best for price and function..832 would be my 2nd choice.
I've tried a good bunch of them, and stren is by far my favorite and most consistent for me.
I come from a saltwater background and all my inshore baitcasting reels are loaded with Izorline Spectra or Jerry Brown Solid braid. I've used the PowerPro before but really like these lines. They do not have the wax coating like PowerPro, casts like a dream and are much much much more supple than PowerPro. I don't have a problem with either digging in either.
All of my Curado 200E7's and 300D's are loaded to the top with 30lb or 50lb Izorline or Jerry Brown. I fish short topshots of either flouro or mono depending on what I am doing. I did load up a brand new Curado 200E5 I bought on clearance last month with 70lb Daiwa Samarai Braid and am not pleased at all with it. It keeps digging into itself which seems crazy. I have not had this problem with PowerPro, Izorline or Jeery Brown in the past unless I straight-pulled a snag while locking the spool. Anyone else experience this with Samarai braid? I am going to get rid of it and put something else on..
Based on this feedback I used Power Pro braid. It is great, a world of difference from the Berkley Fireline that I tried in the past.
I also bought some 832 and plan to try that out the next time I go fishing.
I buy Power Pro and have really good success and it's widely available but I keep hearing really good stories about the Daiwa Braid. I'm going to be getting some of that and trying it this year.
