Fished Friday no problems...... Saturday a.m. put in for tourney put it in reverse and it would not go in, just slipping. Forward actually went in harder than normal so I decided I would fish the day and repair Saturday eve. after warming up for a few minutes it went right into reverse with no problems for the rest of the day.

Several years ago I was changing the water pump assy. and the phone rang while talking on the phone and not thinking I was turning the shift rod.....then put it back in problem starts this day.
I have set the shift rod per the manual, adjusted the cables back and forth on several occasions, I replaced all seals in the lower unit last winter and checked the gears etc... all looks good. Has worked fine until yesterday!

I am sick of this problem it never fails until tourney morning..... Any ideas?
Is it possible the cables are stretched?

I tried that it wont help,Its possible the cable was in a different position[twisted up or down] and caused this ,I"m having a similar problem but coming out of gear when I let off ?

Gee thank's, then that leads to a divorce....wife say's I am an azz hole when I have not been fishing in awhile!
I can push the shifter forward past the forward position and it is tight...move it back and forth a few times I can usually get it so it will work. This is what makes me think it is the cables. But on the other hand I do not understand why it only does this while it is cold and work fine after it warms up.
When I changed the seals I pulled the gears and clutch dog they had no abnormal wear. I am at a loss! Call in the Exorcist.
