1988 Evinrude 200XP
upon take off (anytime the boat is not on plane) when full throttle is applied RPMs go to about 2000 and stop. It takes about 20sec or better to get on plane, once on plane the motor then spins up to normal full throttle levels and runs great.
The motor idles well, however during low speed manuvering sometimes after giving some throttle then letting off the motor will die. It always starts right up again.
Today I noticed fuel was leaking from the bottom air cover.
I am thinking I have one or more floats sticking and that I have excess fuel in the system. Leaking out the front of the carbs under idle conditions and running too rich to get full RPM under initial load?
Would that cause the issues?
Thank you for your time and suggestions!
