    93 Evinrude 150 Intruder

Sorry, don't have the exact number for the motor. Basically, I'm potentially getting this motor on a 93 Ranger 363 if I decide to purchase. I was just wondering the general thoughts on this particular engine. Good production year? Anything specific I should look for? It's had a compression test done, 5 were at 100 and the 6th was 105, this is good right? Any input would be appreciated.
Any ideas on what this is worth?

    About $1,000-$1,500. Good motor.

Thanks for all the input. Is this normal?? The guy that has it now says he always mixes his oil/gas. Is this engine not oil injected? Why would he do this?

    Re: (dough4200)

some people think the oil injection will go bad,but mine worked like a charm.strong motors with a lot of torc actual done better on getting on plane than my 225 ho does same boat,...... it may be unhooked or has went bad.

    Re: 93 Evinrude 150 Intruder (dough4200)

I am fairly new also and just got a 93 ranger363 with same motor. This boat was super clean and motor was also. only trouble I had was it had a power pack go bad but it did not leave me in the water. I can not imagine needing more boat than this, it is fast and pulls my great on a tube, motor even pulled good when pack was going bad and did not know it. Mine is white with a teal/greenish stripe, no other add ons besided gps and such. Only thing I am adding is a ladder. This boat also has the long seat up front in front of pass. windshield which is another plus for taking extra people. This forum will help you fix any problem on it, saved me a ton with my pack problem. If you don't mind, what they asking for boat? And mine does mix oil its self, has seperate tank for oil, been using xd50. This motor loves gas but it is worth it.

A lot of people feel like relying on vro pump is like playing russian roulette with their motor and just feel more assured about mixing oil in gas. Others dont want to spend the $400+ to replace the vro if having problems. me.... I just last week replaced the vro and it still smokes like a freight train. The 60 degree evins and johnsons are all very reliable and well engineered good luck on your purchase and enjoy.

Re: 93 Evinrude 150 Intruder (gunz)

    Thanks for all the input.

Shop just called, said it needs a gasket on the powerhead and the oil in lower unit was a little milky, probably more gaskets. They are saying anywhere from $600 best case to $1000 worse case. Does this sound about right? Other than those things, they said the motor ran good.

The body is kinda rough on the ole Ranger, somebody didn't appreciate it like I would. Always been a dream to own a Ranger. I think with some elbow grease, I could get it looking acceptable except for the impact scars. The guy wants $4,000, that's before we just found out about the engine issues.

I was under the impression any Ranger that ran would be worth $4000. Am I crazy?

Yes. If the boat is junk the boat is junk. $30/ to reseal the LU and $15 to fill. Plus labor.
