Which model blank is it? SH-II, SH-III or SH-X?
I have a couple rods built on Shikari blanks and like them...
Just got of the phone with them and its going to be a SH-X blank.
I can't think of any real negatives, Shikari blanks are a good value. SHX and other high-end blanks should be handled with care because they are more fragile than say SHII or SHII. A rough ride in a rod box can cause breakage down the road. That goes for GLoomis GLX, St. Croix SCV, Batson Rainshadow RX8+ too. Take good care of that rod and you'll really like it.![]()
Thanks for the feed backI hope that I like it. heres to you

I have a med heavy Shikari 7' fast tip, split grip, spiral wrapped custom made rod that I will sell you. I am not impressed with the sensativity at all. Rod maker admitted the blanks were not as good as they used to be and promised to replace it with the same rod built on a St Croix Avid blank. (my choice)
Over a year later and no rod, builder will not answer the phone or emails or a letter from my attorney. Hope you are not getting this rod from the guy I dealt with. I am going to get it remedied one way or another.
I will NOT buy another Shikari based rod!!![]()

Really shouldnt blame the blank on this one.................
I know of many builders including myself who love the SHX PMB series of blanks.........
My personal jig and t-rig rods are built on this blank................and you breath on the bait and you feel it in your hand. My question is......with the bad service your getting from your builder! Could it be possible that the blank your rod is built on isnt what he said it was??
As far as having the same rod replaced with a St Croix SCIII blank, while the SCIII blank is an awesome blank it would not be as sensitive as the SHX Shikari if both were built in the same manor. My suggestion would be if your sure the rod you have is an SHX and you are not happy with its sensitivity. Next rod you have built I would suggest you going with either a St Croix SV blank or even a GLX Loomis. The latter would be providing you are careful with your equipment because one little nick can cause blank failure with this high a modulus blank.
There is another blank in the process right now that is being worked on by a well known rod builder and a blank MFG located out of the country(Not China!!
) That once it catches on will rival any blank on the market as it will have the sensitivity and overall weight of a Loomis GLX but with the durability of something along the lines of a standard IM6 and it will be fairly afffordable to be built on to top it off!!
Just a suggestion, I've assembled some rods using carbon fiber-tube rear grips. When I use carbon fiber rear grips, the sensitivity is amazing. The difference in sensitivity between a Shikari and any other blank is not really as noticeable to me as the difference between rods built with carbon fiber tubes and rods built with cork grips. If your not satisfied with a Shikari blank, try talking to Shikari directly, if you haven't already.
I bought the custom rod from out of Oklahoma. Every time I have called this guy I have been able to talk to him.Wife just bought me a Kistler Senko Special the other day and I also bought me a St. Croix Legend crankbait rod. I have already got a g-loomis. Cant wait to try out the St. Croix!! Hope you can settle your complaint about your rod.

wow, that carbon fiber looks awesome. I can see this being the standard new thing with rods 5-10 years down the road. I would love to try that out.

The steelhead fisherman up in the northwest have been using the carbon fiber tubes for some time now. It hasn't really caught on with the bass guys. I can build a custom rod for anyone who wants to try it out.
