Homemade Push Pole

Anyone have ideas or pictures about a homemade push pole? Heading down to FL in March for a tourney, don't want to spend $$ on something I'll use for 2 days---but I think it'll be useful to get in the weeds w/o a TM...

Get some PVC pipes and attach X amounts at length X until you get the overall length you need. You could attach some kind of foot to the end of the pole.

check tacklewarehouse, they have a telescopic aluminum push pole for around $50 I think.

Go to a home improvement store (i.e., Home Depot, Lowes) and look at the telescopic aluminum poles used for paint rollers.

We used to use a 1 1/2-2" pvc when we went to Texas in the spring. Inexpensive and effective.
If you use pvc, don't cover the ends...the air in the tube will cause it to float up andy you will have to work that much harder to get the pole down in the water.

Lowes has them for around $23 (paint poles). I got an older model for $12. Just put an eye hook in the tip and you have a lure retiever.

When you get there, go by Home Depot or Lowes and get a 12' wooden closet dowel. Last time I got one, they were about $15 bucks. When you get ready to leave, either cut it down to fit in the boat or leave it in a dumpster. They work great.

this works great---buy either new or used a telescopic pole pruning saw,cut off the saw part,put a rubber foot on it and you now have a telescopic push pole that will shrink to fit in a long rod/storage compartment if you have one.I put the fat end of the pole down in the water and the smaller diameter part/pole where the saw was in my hand.I drilled a few holes thru both poles at varying poinys so i can set it at those points with a bolt/wingnut if i need to-it also guarantees against any slippage of the telescopickness.I cant remember if you were gonna be in the tampa area(did u say u were going to FL ?)(i guess I'll find out when i get out of my post and back to the board If you were in my area I could drill the few holes for you-or maybe home depot could drill a few for you----this really is super easy,im just making it seem hard --if you dont drill holes w bolt/wingnut you just have to tighten the threaded collar down real good-it holds your tele setting in place-good idea to have a pair of channel lock pliers w ya--you could probably go to the farm& garden section of the local craigslist and find a pole saw for pretty cheap....
