Rapala DT's 90% of the time. I upsize the hooks with KVD Mustads. The other 10% is usually an x-rap shad when its cold.

I don't get fancy with the technique; cover water and repeat the productive casts. Nearly all my crankbait fishing is over or parallel to grass.

I use 7' M and MH BPS crankin sticks with a Shimano Cardiff 5.8:1 reel, and Trilene 100% flouro in 10 or 12lb test.

Depends on if you are cranking shallow or deep?

    Re: crankbait fishing (southpaw11)

You,ll get a lot of different answers on how to fish crankbaits, most everyone has their on technique. I use reel pause reel,I drag the bait into the bottom, bounce it off rocks and tree limbs, rip it through the water. you,ll just have to fish it and develope your on style. Good luck, can't beat a crankbait.

Last couple of years I started fishing shallow cranks and all but stopped with a spinnerbait except for certain times. I like the Bandit Footloose and 100 Series, Bomber Square A, Strike King 1XS, Norman Mad N. These all work very good around cover.

Try The BPS XPS line of Shallow Cranks, the Pro Series $6.99 ones, not the 4.99. Excellent around Shallow cover. And the Tiny Coffin Square bill bounces off EVERYTHING.
