sometimes crankbaits new out of the package seem to have too big of split rings and the trebles get tangled up, any downside to going with rings a size smaller? i dont really see strength and action being compromised with such a small adjustment..........i could be wrong
good question. I've never tried changing them around, unless there was something wrong with the split ring on there. let us know how it works.
I also hear of some folks using the speed clips. I dont know if they use split rings with them or not though.

i use the XPS Rick Clunn split rings that are more oval in shape......same style that are on Lucky Craft lures
just to clarify im talking about the split rings that hold the trebles to the body. i noticed 1 size smaller will usually create enough space to keep the front and back hooks from touching and getting tangeled.
