Wouldn't be a problem in stained water. If the water is real clear tie about a 18" mono or floro leader.
Never heard of anyone trying this but it sounds good in theory. Let us know if you try the leader and like it.

I have used 6/20 and 8/30 braid on jigheads and have fished on Smith Lake in North Alabama with no problems getting bit. I have fished it in visibility of 8-10ft. I color the last three feet of my line with a red spike-it marker. I catch just as many fish on it out of the back of the boat as the my brother in law does in the front using mono.

That being said, I usually opt for fluorocarbon in 10lb test when fishing in rocky water. The fish don't seem to mind the braid, but the rocks will kill it in my experience. I lost several fish because the rocks wore the braid out.

    Re: "alabama rig" (swilliams)

I have used it for Flukes the biggest problem that I had was the line wanted to float on top and I couldn't get the Fluke to stay down it wanted to come to the top really bad so I thought I would try a split shot and it took about a medium size split shot to get it to stay down. The only problem with this was the Fluke wanted to fall head first really bad. If you come up with a way to fish the Fluke on braided with really good sucess please let me know. I am talking about the walk the dog type fishing about a foot under the water that is about the only way I fish a Fluke.

    Re: "alabama rig" (carolina killer)

I've used the daiichi buttdragger hooks to get my flukes to fall level faster. They have a screw lock at the line tie that hooks to the fluke and then a series of lead weights on the shank of the hook. You can change the weights to get it to where you want it.

Also, if you like wide gap hooks, you can wrap suspend strips around the hook shank. I have done that with senkos.
