2006 225 ho etec clicking noise

last fall before putting the boat away I had the three year service done. I took the boat out for the first time this year and when I started the motor it's making a clcking noise. but the motor ran good. It sounds terrible almost like a rod banging. Serial # 5136521 . Model# E225DHLSDF

Do you get this sound both in-gear and in neutral?

with the hood on it's more of a clicking sound. with it off it's just a lot louder. It's at the shop to get looked at now. hope to know something today.

They went thru the lower unit to make sure there wasn't a tooth knocked off and they checked everything from the lower unit up the drive shaft and it looked good. They called Evinrude and they told them to pull the heads and check the cylinder walls. i was there and they looked good. The star board side did seam to have some un burnt oil in the head.
this motor hasn't been run since the 300 hr service and winterised last January. It was not making any noise when it was put away. The noise started the first time the motor was started for the year.

I guess they are going to check rod bearings and crank bearings

They looked into it further and did find scarring on the top port side cylinder walls. This motor only has 125 hrs. on it. What could have caused this? So it looks like I need a new power head.
