Sept - Oct - Nov for the big oversize redfish.... after every bad front. That rough water brings em in. I win bull red division in numerous tournaments every year.

But when conditions are right we can target them year round. Don't go within a couple days of full moon or on the new moon.

Let me know i can get you on my calendar and we go light em around Galveston/Freeport.

Can go after slot reds anyday.

    Im no help for Louisiana.....

I forget that things we take for granted, other people want!! I can go out pretty much any day in “my backyard” and catch redfish whenever….. they’re not quite as easy as they used to be but it’s a cycle… couple years ago, I’d bet my life I’d catch a limit of reds in 30 minutes 10 minutes from the house…. Now you gotta kinda work a little harder.. drought 2 summers ago hurt everything around here…it’s bouncing back tho..

Venice is where you want to go… hopedale a close second.. Lafitte would be next..

Venice, cocodrie, and dularge. In that order. They each have lodging and guide services. Venice and dularge you can also catch bass.

If you are coming down here in the fall, Venice is #1. The spring/summer months open up a few more options with different ways to catch them.

Speaking for lower Terrebonne......March - August they are dirt shallow and can be caught sight fishing with topwater and plastics. Still a few shallow in September, but 90+ degree water temps will push some out deep and scatter them around. Oct - February they are concentrated in deeper holes due to low water and post-frontal conditions. If you are an accurate caster, my suggestion would be shallow water sight fishing, May-July. If you are a novice and would rather bottom fish with live bait, a good guide can put you on fish 12 months out of the year.

Cocodrie, lower Terrebonne parish has the best brackish water, shallow marsh for sight fishing in spring/summer months.... in my opinion. Probably because I grew up there and know it well. Anthony Kyzar with Cajun Hunting and Fishing charters 985-870-5909 is a great choice for lower Terrebonne. He knows the shallow game and most guides do not. Hopedale, Delacroix area has similar terrain and I am positive there is someone in the area who knows how to sight fish.
