    Longest run pros have made.

What’s the longest run you have seen pros make before? Anything 100 miles plus one way? I remember someone running from Sandusky Bay to St clair river in a FLW series before

I know of someone running 4 hrs each way leaving 10 min to fish. Caught 25lbs in 6 casts and won 20k.

Randy has posted about having to carry gas cans in the cockpit and having to refuel them at a marina on the way back. That had to be several hundred miles.

How far were the guys running on the Louisiana Delta to fish years ago each way. Even think they had radar on the boats to navigate in the fog.

That run from Orange to Clear Lake through the Gulf of Mexico during the Sabine River events has to be up there for distance.

Joe Thomas used to run from Clayton to Rochester, on Ontario that's a hell of a gamble.

In my younger days I made several trips from munden point virginia beach to east lake NC. If memory is correct it's about 70 miles each way. I had an 18 ft. Winner and carried two 6 gallon gas cans with me.

I fished that tournament (BASS Clayton 1991). He ran to Little Sodus Bay. We ran to Chaumont Bay that day and it was horrendous! He went two times further! That was when the standard rig was an 18’ w/150. Joe ran a Skeeter. Rick Clunn won that one.

Yeah he and s couple other guys were running from Memphis to Lake Whittington just north of Greenville, Mississippi. Not sure how many river miles that is but it takes some major league cajonés to run an 18 or 19 foot bass boat that far on the big muddy.

Not sure but it was always wild to me how close the takeoff was to some of the places those guys would fish as the crow flies. The levee system just gave them money to access the areas without the insane runs.

Some high school kids and their captain ran from Paris Landing to Pickwick Dam I think 3 days in a row in a BASS High School Championship a few years back. That’s like 125 miles or so each way.

Distance is one thing, but distance over big water is another. Scott Dobson did the run from Sandusky to the St. Clair River a few years ago, and I'm sure a few more have done it. You're really putting your faith in the weather man for a run like that.

I just have to imagine that there's good fishing somewhere between these 70+ mile runs. It may not be good enough for a win, but probably good enough that you won't slide down in the standings. I don't think I'd want to risk the points on a mechanical failure or weather-related issue.

we had a camp on little sodus from 2005 to 2010. We still go back every year to fish in May. Imo, it’s picturesque small town Americana especially during the summer months. Lots of events and activities going on, parades, garage sales, kids playing in the park etc. ever since the covid real estate boom the housing market there is insane.

A few years ago people were running down to Mexico from Clayton. I know a lot of guys ran from Waddington to chaumont recently

I did the Mexico Bay from Clayton thing in an FLW w/ Ernie Freeman. We had a sh!t day w/ insane waves. We were coming back and had some electrical issues, bilge pumps were acting up and the wind was getting worse and a storm was moving in and we knew the waves at St Vincent would be epic. Ernie said “things could be way worse, you could be out shopping for a minivan w/ your wife”!

Wasn't there an FLW event years ago where Davey Hite was traveling several miles on the Mississippi to fish for one hour. Clunn was also a top five finisher in the event and commented on picking up other tournament contestants off the buoys after they had boat problems. I think Hite was traveling more than two hours each way, but when he got to that oxbow lake, his fish were quality fish and they were deep.

yep FLW Tour out of Memphis. Davy Hite, Randy Blaukat and a couple others were running almost all the way to Greenville, Mississippi. A staggering distance in a what at the time was probably an 18 or 19 foot boat on that river.
