    Fished McDonalds

This year I fished McDonalds with my Father in law for the first time and he is not a freshwater guy at all, he has probably been maybe at the most 5 times. We fished Wed and caught a pretty good bit, Thur got a little better, then Friday the first day we are our spot at about 5:45 waiting for the first cast and about 8:15 Bass fishing took on a whole new meaning for my FIL. We were fishing a hump in about 6' of water I hear him set the hook on something then a see his pole tip damn near hit the water then in a real low voice he says you might want to get the net, so I throw my pole down and run to the back and I'm ready all of a sudden the fish jumps out of the water and its a pig. I was probably more nervous than him considering whats on the line here. He finally gets it close enough and I take a swipe at it and miss then it goes under the boat but what really worried me is I had the power pole down and the motor and that was no good. Luckily she comes back out and I get her in. We were both just staring quietly at each other like what the the hell just happened. So we look around and no one saw any of this happen which was very cool as well. We calmly sat down in the boat with the scale and it bounced around from 8.7 - 9 lbs now this gets interesting since most bay boat live wells arent made to actually hold fish but to hold bait we slide her on down in there and she cant move, she literally alomst wraps around it. we decided we need to get moving if we are gonna keep this fish alive. We make it there and snap a few pics. The official weight was 8.71 good enough for 3rd place of the hour worth $800 he ended up with third place for the day. The next day he fell to 5th place and the final day day 11th overall. Not to bad for a saltwater guy. Even after the fish of a lifetime for him he still said that Bass fishing is fun every once and a while but his joy is hooking them big red fish. Could not be more happier for him.
