    Sooner Lake

It's January 28, 2011....any one been on sooner recently? If so, could you give me a little insite as to the current bass fishing conditions.....what they're hitting on and a general location on the lake? Planning on going tomorrow if the wind behaves. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah.....fished the warm water discharge wall and the cold side. Never got bit. Saw some running over to the Dam but never ran that far....figured it was the guys fishing the jackpot since I heard and saw them running a little after 9. Tried to call Dana to get some tips but never got ahold of him. I've never fished it for bass till yesterday....always hybrids.

I know a couple of guys who know sooner like a book and I tried to call one of them Saturday before I went, but never got ahold of him. That lake is producing some big fish and has been for the past several years....I'd just like to catch a batch like that one time!! LOL I saw them heading over torwards the dam that morning and I thought abour running over the just never did. I talked to a guy at the boat ramp who fished the jackpot over at grand on Saturday and they came in 2nd with 27.05 and lost by over a pound. This winter has produced some huge bags of fish!

Hey you ever fish Konawa? I'm goin over the Saturday morning and going to give it a shot. I wish I had about a week to run the HDS over the whole thing so I can find the roadbeds, etc.

i have a question about sooner. can you go and if so how far can you go in the discharge channel? i went there on friday jan 27th,and there is a sign that says restricted area, so i didnt even try to go in to the channel, also where are some spots to catch some bass? any info would great.

There are several white buoys on the riprap and there should be a cable strung across the discharge and that is your stopping point. You were in the discharge right? You were in the discharge right? There should of been a rock wall on the East side of it that runs North and South. The inflow runs from East to West and is up on the far North end of the lake.

About fishing that lake....I've only bass fished it a couple of times and have not stomped a mudhole in them ha ha .
The guys who posted their pics probably won't give you any information on where to go, but I was told by a guy who a great fisherman on that lake told me to take the A-rig and head torwards the dam and fish that riprap (that was the same day the Ponca City fellas caught that huge bag about 3 weeks ago now), but I am assuming the fish have moved maybe.
I saw those guys take off that morning, but not sure exactly where they went and I believe it was over torwards the dam area. The dam area is where I would go, but the discharge is good too.....just as you get to the south end of the discharge riprap start there and go north.

I'm not sure where you unloaded exactly, but look at a sat image of the lake and look down the West side of the lake.....you will see it cause there is a long riprap wall that runs from the power plant all the way down to the south end almost.
