Tachometer wiring

Where can I get some info on this? My tach doesn't work, and when I took it out, it at least looks like all the wires are connected.

If I boat a new one, would it come with directions.

I have a GT175, any info on how to wire a tach would be great, I just need to know what to hook where.

The wires attach as follows to the tach...
Gray wire hooks to the "S" post or sender.
Black wire hooks to the "G" post or ground.
Red or Purple wire hooks to the "B", "+" or "pos" post.

I will check and get back to you, the dealer told me the rectifier could be going bad too, so I have to check and see if the motor is charging when its running.
Then go from there.
