I hit a stump last week and messed up the gears in my lower unit, so I had to deal with the insurance company with this.Anyway they sent a after market case and gears that I had to pay the overnight shipping from Alabama because I needed it for a 120 boat charity tournament Saturday. Well I did not know it was after market until it showed up, there was no hole for the speedo pick up on the bottom and no hole towards the top of the case were the hose connects to. The case does not bolt up even there is a 1/8 inch hanging over on one side and the other side is flush. The anode bolt up threads had to be tapped to get it in, had to file the casting to even get the anode in place. The case itself looks like it has been patched on all sides its not smooth at all. And to top it off my boat ran 5mph gps slower now

I guess all I'm doing is venting, but I'm not happy and told the insurance company this they are coming out Thursday to look at it.
The motor is a 1996 Johnson Faststrike and I was told they do not make that case anymore. The only plus out of this is I have more water pressure and they said that is because of the new water pick up area that is different from my own case.
I know this is the cheapest way for the insurance company and the motor is a 1996 but I was wondering if this is what is normally done for a boat and motor this old.
Sorry for the rant.
