Don't have any specifc advice about the Nanty but I have some general tips for swiftwater river fishing that may be of use. I also read the link to the other thread, so here goes.
1.) If you are fishing for Salmon/Steelhead you will need to use flurocarbon line. I have fished for both, and while they have lots of teeth I don't recall that being a problem for the fish to cut my line.
2.) If I was fishing the Nanty this time of year, I would target Smallmouth. I am almost positive there are smallies in the river. For this time of year they should be chewing pretty good to fatten up for the winter.
3.) If the water is low/clear then your best bets will be tubes (dark colors), bitsy bug jigs, shallow running cranks in crawfish colors (Bandit and the Rebel Crawfish are favorites), small jerkbaits, senkos, and flukes. In the evening or overcast you may get some on a buzzbait as well. Make long casts if you can.
4.) If the water is high or has decent color to it you can (in addition to the others) fish spinnerbaits, and lipless cranks.
5.) If you are not familiar with fishing moving water look for eddies (areas where the water looks slick) and the push water (at the entrance to a riffle or rapid). Both of these areas have slower water and are most likely to hold fish.
