    92 70 hp timing ?

I have the book that describes link n sync. I have follwed that as best i can, but I'm somewhat confused I thought that it would need timing advance at the same time a throttle advance.. stalls sometimes when put into gear at idle .. just doesn't like it all the time.. sometimes its okay but if cold it seems worse. the arm that advances timing is about half inch from advancing when the throttle starts to open the carbs

    forgot model/serial number E70TLEIE / G02609184

From your model number, the motor is a 1991. There were some bulletins back then about changing WOT timing from 19° to 17° to prevent detonation.

If I remember right, the timing should be TDC when the throttle plates start to open. Don't have any books handy, just the gray-matter recollections of an old man.

    Re: 92 70 hp timing ? (SEAHORSE)

thanks seahorse... book i have says 3-5 ATDC @ idle and 18-20 BTDC above 5000 rpms... big issue i have is that the throttle plates are in motion way before the timing advance.. like 300-400 rpm.. is that normal?

You should be able to adjust the roller away from the cam plate so you can complete the sync n link. Loosen the screw snap the carbs a few times to verify they are closed then adjust the roller so it just touches the cam follower.
