Anything over 1 mile for me is too far.
I live 10 miles from the plant. 17 lights, speed limit varies from 30 to 45. There are days it takes 40 minutes, would much rather be moving on the freeway for 40 minutes than my crap commute.
anything over 20 minutes. I have a 11 mile 16 minute commute. I do commute once a week 95 miles to the lake to fish, which takes 1hr 40.....would hate that everyday and would move. I have too many things I like to do around the house instead of sit in a car spending money on gas/maintenance and life reduction of said car.
For 32 years I drove 112 miles each day to work. For last 8 years I have driven 70 miles each day to work. Currently all but 7 miles each day are on an expressway/interstate with 70 mph speed limit. Only 127 working days until retirement!
My last was 25 miles, one way.
My BIL, did 151 mi., every day for 2 years, to get his retirement benefits. I couldn't.
When I used to have to be in the office daily, I was driving 50-65 minutes each trip. I would take calls during the driving time so it was relatively quick trip in my mind. Now that I get to work from home for most of my days, that drive seems awful.
Walking from upstairs to downstairs in the morning.
I'm about 10 miles
In 2 1/2 years, That will be to far
My commute is roughly 50 miles one way . Depending on traffic it takes me 50 minutes to 1hour 10 minutes.
I was working offshore 14/14 in the gulf of Mexico before retirement and I would leave home at 1:00 AM to get to the heliport before 5:00 AM
50-60 miles would be too long for me. I’m 4.1 miles from work
I drive 137 miles one way then a average of another 300 during the day and 137 back home
Anything over thirty minutes one way. I had a 15 minute commute one way for the last 15 years. I always said that short commute was worth about $10,000 a year to avoid the aggravation of a long commute.
Anything more than right around the corner, short, not bad and easily-doable, then I consider it long.
88 miles round trip for my full time job. One boatyard I do work for in the winter months, on the weekends, is 145 round trip. That yard I add 4-5hrs per estimate to help with fuel costs. The other yard I do work for is basically next door to my full time, so I only add a couple hours.
Mine is pretty good I go from bedroom to coffee maker then recliner and just relax for a couple of hours .
Drove 58 miles one way for a few years. Making up for it now, less than a 1/10 to the plant.
I'd consider anything over half an hour a long commute. That said, I drive 5.5 miles each way to work and about 10-15 minutes each way. I think there's 7 or 8 stoplights in a 4 mile stretch.
I did 6 months of OKC to Singapore. Two weeks on, two off. Didn’t know what day it was most of that time. Living hell on earth. Got lots of airline miles, though. Made a ton of $ too. Just wore my ass out. Had to say ‘uncle’ on that nonsense.
