Funny to me that living where I do along the Tennessee river in NW Alabama, we have a Tracker dealership in town, Ranger and Triton across the river and a Skeeter and Falcon dealership east of us. There are a ton of Nitro boats on Pickwick every weekend as well as Wilson and Wheeler. While there may be a few stories of bad luck with their boats Tracker and Nitro seem to have a pretty good vibe going on around here.
Only reason, I don't like them is I don't like Bass Pro Shop, lol

Somebody overheard a guy say his cousins friend had an uncle who talked to a guy in Alabama that knew of a Nitro bought in 2010 that had a scratch and they are all junk. :laugh:

I like the post about the guy who leaned against the side of a Nitro and caved it in the a brown paper sack or whatever the f**k he said. Hopefully the op took advantage of the deal he could get and got himself the Z20
I think a lot of Rangers owners feel threatened by the new and improved Nitros

Through first hand experience I can tell you Fords are junk. But that was ONE Ford.
I bought them for my towing business for 10 years. Loved them, made a LOT of money with them.... and thought I'd likely die one day in one. Then 1994 came around, and the Ford from hell. 2~3 RO's open at any given time the first year. Anything and everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Like 2 water pumps in 19,000 miles *yes plural*, injectors, clutch, alternator, AC, electrical, wheel seals, axles seals, pinion seal, stuck calipers and it literally never stopped.
Put 3 dozen lemons on it, along with signage that read "Have you driven a Lemon Lately?", and "Ford, Quality is Job None!". Then drove it all around Atlanta, as well as all over the infield of Atlanta Motor Speedway on race weekend. Got a lot of positive 'yeah buddy's' and 'Aw'RIGHT', and thumbs up from folks too. :laugh:
It was so bad that 2 dealers threw up their hands and said they couldn't keep it running, take it somewhere else.:eek:
Sold it before the end of the first 12 months for a $37,000 loss and walked away.
Does that mean EVERY Ford is junk? Not just then, but 23 years later? Me thinks NOT.:smile:
I even tried to get my wife to look at them before we bought her new Chevy last November, but she refused.
Everyone has a horror story of this brand, or that brand. That doesn't mean that everything that the company makes is junk.
KIA makes some really nice, well engineered, and well built vehicles. Even building them here in the states. The are a price point vehicle, and a great value. There is PLENTY of room for that in the bass boat market.
Now if Nitro wanted to build a high dollar model to rival XYZ brand they certainly could. Take the KIA K900, and the Hyundai Equus, (which is being replaced by the G90) both of which are in the $65,000 range, but aimed at MB S-Class, Lexus LS, Audi A8 & BMW 7 Series which are all MUCH more expensive, albeit doubtful more luxurious.
Why did KIA and Hyundai take aim at building a small market, high priced model? Because at they put it, "to take advantage of the luxury market's higher profit margins". And if bass boats are not a luxury item, I don't know what is. Nitro fills a need, and provides a product that works within that market space. Build it more expensively, and sell it for more, easy enough. Perhaps they could start one wing of a factory with 4 rooms, each with a dedicated 4 man crew that builds one boat at a time and provide a gold engraved name plate for each owner, and slap a $74,995 price tag on them. Bet folks would lap that up. :wink: The more luxury, the higher the profit margin, period.
On another note........
Funny that China and Buick was mentioned earlier. Being as closely tied to the car business as I was for 20 years I had some shocking news as to how Buick survived when Pontiac was canned a while back.
The *ONLY* reason that Buick was kept up and running was because back 10 years ago China was buying as many as half of them! Over there they treated them like a luxury brand, and the $$$ were to lucrative for GM to walk away from. (Even if they sent Chevy, GMC, or even more Pontiac vehicles that way.) So they canned Oldsmobile, then later Pontiac, to keep Buick for the China market.
