I have a 1995 130HP Evinrude on my Stratos. When I put the hammer down, it now just bogs down and won't accelarate. It acts like it's not getting enough gas. A couple of times it did eventually kick in and come up on plane. Put new Champions and fuel filter in but it didn't help. Befoe I bring it to a mechanic, I would greatly appreciate any help. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/praying.gif

I'm guessing it's your powerpack. I had the same problem with my '98 115 Johnson, and took it to two mechanics,( one in Aransas Pass and one in Round Rock,Tx.). Neither one found the problem, but I had had it in the past, and paid the dealer over $300 under warranty to replace. The last one, about 4 yrs. ago, I bought from Broken Leg Dave, over the internet, for less than $200, and installed myself in about 20 minutes.
No problems since...runs like brand new.

My 97 -175 just started doing the same thing.............but not until I put new champions in and added carb cleaner and carbon cleaner.
I think it may be getting the crud in the carb now.

rayzor...get someone to pump bulb when you hammer on it and see it picks up. If so its a fuel prob....if not prob electric. Get a little spark tester and measure gap on tester. The spark should be pretty and blue and jump a 7/16'' gap.
robbie...not trying to high jack thread but what type of carb cleaner did you use?? If you are getting crud I stop and clean everything. I would rebuild carbs...hate to get some junk in the wrong place. SeaFoam is great product to run in your fuel to keep things clean and clear. Helps with carbon build up also. Use it once a year to do a decarb. I know a fella that burnt up his powerhead on a 97 intruder due to trash in carb. be careful. Goodluck.
Sounds like a lotta guessin' going on.
You have to determine if it is a mechanical, electrical, or fuel problem.
Try this: When you go to accelerate and it bogs down, push the "choke" in and see if it picks up. If so, then you have internal carb problems. If it runs worse, then it may be ignition related or the spark advance plate sticking or something linkage related.
Mine was doing the same thing and it was the High Speed Jets in the bottom of the Carbs were stopped up. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
