Got a question about Johnson 150
I have a Johnson 150 Fastrike 1993 and i pulled my boat out of the water the other day lowered the motor to let the water drain from the motor and noticed something that i had never noticed before. Right around the vents on the lower part of the motor about two inches to the right towards the front of the motor there is a small pin hole that had water coming out of it. Would this be a problem i have no idea how it got there or anthing i dont even know if it has always been there i just walked back there and noticed water coming out of it right there around those vents. Im assuming it will not hurt anything since right there close to that is the vents that suck the water up or filter through or something. Can any of you tell me if this is a problem.

you can see it is about 2 inches to the right of that vent.
Re: Got a question about Johnson 150 (booneangler)
well i just called the boat shop and talked to them and they said that was a drain for the power something i cant remember what they said.

All OMC/BRP standard gear cases have that hole.
Re: Got a question about Johnson 150 (ChampioNman)
i guess the paint is just falling off around the hole then. You see where it is coming off but what do you excpect it is a 1991 motor.
Re: Got a question about Johnson 150 (booneangler)
You can use CLR cleaner to get that hard water stain off, where the water has drained out of that hole since 1991. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
Re: Got a question about Johnson 150 (Fiddlefarter)
this may seem stupid but what is CLR cleaner. Where can i get this at.
Re: Got a question about Johnson 150 (booneangler)
Calcium Lime and Rust it is a stain remover they advertise it on TV all the time most any grocery store has it in the cleaning section. I wouldn't sweat it though you've got cavitation peel behind the water inlet screens. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

What he said...There really wasn't any reason I posted that other than I figured that you were looking that that hole and might want to get the stain off.
Re: Got a question about Johnson 150 (booneangler)
That's a drain hole for a water cavity in the gearcase, if not open, it would allow water to freeze and possibly burst your housing. Not sure about the "Power something drain" you were told, that's a new one on me. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/stirthepot.gif
