GT 150 starts but then dies

My GT 150 is on a Procraft johnson boat and I am having trouble with it idle and just dying when cranked up, I also noticed that the fuel in the filter will go back down after it is pumped up with the primer bulb and the bulb does not stay hard. The carbs are getting fuel and oil misture and there is no sign of fuel leaks, I replaced the device that has the red lever on the driver side of the motor because the O ring was leaking before. I have changed plugs and wires but still the same thing. It will crank up but will die right away, like the motor is being shut off.

Where did you find the model & serial #'s

His numbers are legal. His motor is a 1984 and like my 1985 there is not a Model Variation letter on the nomenclature tag.

Not questioning his numbers, just wondering where to look for them on the motor. I have a 90' model & can't find any numbers I need to ask questions.

If yours is like mine, turn your steering wheel hard right, and there is a number plate on the mounting bracket next to the top bolts.
