I am from the Successbass Club in California and we are talking over the idea of putting on a little tournament/clinic for youths. The idea is we have boaters and assign two kids 10 to 15 year old to a boat and do a little 3-4 hour tournament. Need some ideas from getting started to ending. How do we get sponsers, prizes (alhough we have a pretty good community that helps out) maybe some fishing companies... Any help will be appreciated.. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
That is great I enjoy doing this myself with our group of kids. Sponsors are tough to get so I would look at locally owned tackle shops, and businesses you frequent. Most are willing to give $10-25 that you can use to buy prizes. I might consider having the kids fish as 2 angler teams per boat. This way each kid will work together and not compete against each other in the same boat. You could also set it up like a Big Bass Tournament where the kids weigh a big fish each hour, this will help more kids feel successful by hopefully winning a big bass for one of the hours. With our kids they like the prizes but they really like to weigh the fish and see what other caught. In the end I would have the kids tell the other how they caught their fish, what they used etc. The main thing is keep it fun for all. Good luck I'm sure you guys will enjoy your tournament/clinic
