I've got a 04 Yamaha 250 HPDI and I'm thinking about switching over to Amsoil.
I know that I need to remove & drain my external oil reservoir, but what else do I need to do?
Also thinking about using Amsoil for the lower unit. Anything I need to know about here?
Once you go synthetic, you must stay synthetic. I have used Amsoil 2 stroke injector oil for nine years and the gearcase synthetic oil too. It's great stuff.

We have run Amsoil sense the late 70's and run in everything we have Cars, trucks, lawn equipment and farm tractors. We us grease where we work because the equipment bearing last longer.They don't want run the motor and gear grease because they believe that the oil should be changed at 3000 miles.
Its best to get as much of the reg. oil out of the reservoir but little want hurt. Fill the main reservoir and then make sure the engine reservoir is full before you start the motor. Should not as much smoke and idle a little higher.
Lower unit just change it like you would if was reg. oil.

Why once you go synthetic, you must stay synthetic? What would be the things that would happen if you used Amsoil in a pinch? I used it last year when Amsoil oil was the only available in the area I was at. Since that time I have used many gals of Yamalube 2M and seen no issues. Just wondering? I didn't drain old oil, I just added and went fishing. Maybe I'm on borrowed time, who knows.

I have 28 gallons of Amsoil 2 stroke oil I would let go for $300.00. Since I got my new SHO I just dont have a use for it. It is in a 30 gal barrel with a spigot and a pvc elbow above that with a valve so you van turn the vent off and on.
