Re: Blown Pro-V 200???? (pitchajig)
Compression check. If ok, siphon from primer bulb in a small clear container and check for water in fuel. Check and make sure all plugs are ok and not fouled. This could also be lower unit problems or CDI issues.
Re: Blown Pro-V 200???? (Reata210)
Thanks. Could it be lower unit if still doing it in neurtal and what is the CDI?
Re: Blown Pro-V 200???? (pitchajig)
yes, the clanging at idle and in gear could be a problem with the lower unit. I went through that with my Pro-V about four years ago. Do a compression check as suggested to find out for sure.

Re: Blown Pro-V 200???? (pitchajig)
The CDI is your ignition. Capacitive Discharge Ignition. I doubt it is in the CDI as it is not prone to fail very easy, but as I mentioned worth looking at. This times and controls when a plug will fire. This sounds more like a lower unit that let go than anything else. That ProV is pretty bullet proof if taken care of. I had a 130 V4 which also came in the Pro V variety. Ran it for 16 years with never a problem. Look at all the things mentioned starting with compression. Look at the plugs as well, they can tell you a lot. If a cylinder let go you will see it in the plug. You can also drain the LU oil and look for contamination/water and filings
Re: Blown Pro-V 200???? (pitchajig)
fuel sample and compression check asap
also check plugs and sparky
