Not wanting to hijack this post but reeds can make a lean sneeze at idle? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/embarassed.gif

Lean sneezing is one of the top two causes of reed failure.... and if a reed is damaged, the engine will often "sneeze" or "wheeze". http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

Hi Don, Keith here, I was just wanting to know why sometimes bad bleed lines will make your motor sneeze? Just curious because I have read you saying this will sometimes be the case. My Motor 99EFI has only sneezed once and after I replaced a bad bleed hose it has never done it again, Thanks http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif
Ps. It happened after fishing for 3 hours straight with the motor trimmed up:

Re: Sneezing? (TritonCowboy)
Bleed lines are used to recirculate puddled or unburnt fuel from one area of the engine (usually the intake area) to another area of the engine where it can be burnt, or used for lubrication.
When a bleed line breaks or cracks, it allows air to enter into fittings and/or check valves. If this air finds a pathway to the combustion chamber, it causes a lean mixture, or an incorrect fuel/air mixture. Sneezing or misfiring is then the result.
If the engine happens to be running with the cowling off, you'll often note that the "sneeze" is accompanied by a "puff of smoke" the comes from the offending bleed line. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

Thanks Don, That makes perfect sense http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif I always inspect the bleed lines every time before I go on the water.
Thank you sir for the explanation. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

Re: Sneezing? (EuropeanAM)
Thanks Don I noticed that after mine sneezed one time I smelt gas and took the cover off and found one of the fuel lines off that lubes the crank so I zip tied all my fuel lines that I could get to.
