Re: Still have some issues (fish)
I forgot what motor you had, 1989 200?

Re: Still have some issues (fish)
On some of the motors that part just set spring tension to make sure the timer base returned to the stop. I'll look in the service manual and let you know later. I often wondered who designed that linkage set up, it's a nightmare. No way to really set the top end timing without running the motor on a dyno or with a test wheel at 5000 RPM. You can get close, as we did on an engine rebuilds, but not right. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif

What is your timing at idle. And what is your RPM at idle in neutral and in gear at idle.

Going to try and dig in today, will get those #'s.

This wouldn't have to be adjusted to set the idle timing if the spring tension was set right. If a motor with your symtoms came to me to be fixed, the first thing I would do is check the compression and look at rhe plugs. Compression OK, check the spark, spark OK, do a sync and link. Then run on the dyno to duplicate the problem. A OEM service manual would be a great help. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif
