Proper RPM's 2001 Rude Ram - Help
I had been running at 5400 RPM at wot. Had good hole shot and was seeing 68/69 mph on gps on regular basis. I had the EMM go out and after replacing it I have lost 300/400 RPM (motor strains to reach 5000 now and is sluggish on hole shot as well. The EMM and new plugs were the only changes made to the engine. Is there something else that I should be looking for at this point.
Suggestions please.

Model and serial # please. Was the EMM a factory replacement or was it repaired by DFI technologies? Was the timing procedure and sync and lync performed?

Thanks for the reply. Here is the information that you were asking about.
Engine: 2001 Rude Ram, 225 hp. E225FHLSI Serial No. 04916950
The EMM was repaired by DFI. Installed by my local mechanic who I would have thought preformed the correct timing procedures since he has been an Evenrude guy for some 15 plus years that I have known him.
Thanks

Do the obvious first, compression check, verify each cylinder is getting spark if that checks out then have the injectors checked. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif

Okay, I know that Dale was also in the process of calling DFI to see what they had to say and if they had any suggestions. I will also be sure to mention to Dale your suggestions when I speak to him tomorrow. In any case it looks like the boat is going to be out of service for a while longer until we get to the bottom of this.
Thanks again for the information. I guess that I have been lucky and gotten away with only normal maintenance up to this point. I do more fishing than running and the shame of it all is that there are only 280 total hours on the engine.

Update:
Well folks got the boat back this week and everything now seems to be working as it shouldld, both hole shot and top end are back to what I had prior to the rebuild of the EMM. My mechanic tells me that when DFI rebuilt the EMM and sent to him it came preloaded with a program, unfortunately the program loaded was not the correct one for my engine number, some sort of communication error between them. Once he contacted them the second he got a new program via the internet. He loaded that into the EMM. This must have been the correct one as all seems well. I have only ran it for half hour or so with out issue, so next week I will get to spend some real time on the water to make absolutely sure every thing is fine.
