Re: Smith Mtn lake? (coachcornbread)
First off, I am no expert on Smith Mountain. I go once a year. I was up there about a month ago. We did ok drop shoting secondary points. Did not seem to matter what color. Managed a few up river on wood as well trick worm/shakey head. We saw alot of cruisers but they were not interested in any offerings.

I agree, fish late afternoon, into the night, then hit an early morning topwater bite and go to sleep and let the crazxies have the lake during the day. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

Agree also about the after-crazy time. During the mid day hours you will find that even the boat wakes make wakes, especially West of the State Park in the Roanoke arm, LOL.
Re: Smith Mtn lake? (Wayne P.)
Have not fished the night bite but a couple friends have and it is on they are burning up big largemouth and some stripers after midnight . I fish mostly days now because of my job and that bite has really fell of to what it was a couple weeks ago a 14 to 15 lb sack was just mediocre but now it is down around 12-13 as an average on daytime .We have been catching them on a ratl trap style bait and a finesse worm on a shakey head in the day but the big females seemed to have moved off shore recovering and eating up the shad spawn at night . spinnerbaits have worked some around fry when you find them and the fish are running about half way in the creek in cuts and secondary points . Just my 2 cents ,you know how fishing info is I can be burning them up on a ratltrap , tell somebody about it show them the fish and then they will try it and not catch a dang thing and they will think you lied to them . All tips are just that tips and fish are like some other creatures we love they can change at the drop of a hat . http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
