How do you transfer Humminbird waypoints over to the garmin format?
I've done the gpsbabel before. Never understood that program. Is that the only option I have?
humminbird is already in gpx format. at least mine were. i simply imported into homeport then exported to the card
Home port is $25 correct?
Homeport is a free download from Garmin. They use to charge but now offer it free.

Special thanks to my sponsors- Team Daiwa, Garmin Electronics, Gill Technical Fishing, Bass Magnet Lures, and Upper Canada Marine.
If you use Humminbird PC this is how to export them in gpx format. The Onix uses gpx and before it would automatically change the format at import I made this video for another board member.
thanks guys
I'm running 10.7.5 on my mac. its the most up to date format available. when i go to download homeport, it says to you 10.8 or great? wth??
they were already gpx. all you did was save them to a different location than default
you dont even need to save them. they are auto saved in the c\users\your user name\my documents\my_humminbirdpc\gpx_files
you also dont wont to save like that. if your using humminbird pc you should upload to the card using the arrows on the left attached to the card. If you want to save the file for backup or to import into something else, you should also remove the copy from the file name, which you didnt do. Don't save it to the card, save it to the desktop, import into homeport by selecting file and import into then right click on the user data and choose send to. this puts the proper folder structure on your card, not just the file

If thats the case your best option is to do what fishfood has posted. As for Homeport that unfortunate. Your only option is to somehow upgrade your Mac operating system.
did you check the waypoint format? they should already be .gpx all you have to do it put the card in your garmin. of course you wont be able to change icons or anything via the computer. how about basecamp

Thanks Troy. I will give it a try. Yes I have a chip with nothing but hbird waypoints. I was kind of wondering why I just couldn't install the card into the garmin of they are both the same format.
i cant tell you for sure, but IMO you can. i had to combine waypoints from 2 different 1198s, so i combined them in humminbird pc, then saved them. I then imported them into homeport just to change the icons on them. I then sent them to the sd card. there was no conversion process.
They should already be in .gpx format. There's no need to convert them. Why would you convert from .gpx to .gpx. My waypoints from my 1198 were already .gpx. He would only need gps bable if his waypoint are something other than .gpx. I used it to convert from google earth to .gpx
........
i am hoping to have it all figured out this evening. I'm going to dust off the old windows pc and fight through the spyware and see if i can get homeport on it.
thanks guys
