    Side Imaging...ECHOMAP UHD 93sv

Just wondering if anyone is running an EchoMap UHD model yet...w/GT54 UHD transducer. Any pics or videos of the side imaging would be appreciated. I currently have EchoMap + units in the boat. I am wanting to upgrade or add a unit at the console that has better side imaging. The EchoMap UHD is of interest as I can keep things "all Garmin"...not to mention the cost is favorable. This said, I am also considering a HB Helix 9 or 10 just for side imaging.

Sorry but Garmin UHD side imaging is nowhere near as good as HB Mega. Lots of post on here. I have yet to see a side image from Garmin that comes close to HB. Really wish it was different or someone could prove me wrong. Is Garmin side imaging usable, yes. But then again nobody has anything else close to Livescope.

I can't seem to find many posts about the new UHD models. Generally I agree with you. I hear the side imaging is much better with the new models...I'm wondering how much better. I seriously doubt it will be as good as HB but at roughly $500 cheaper there may be some acceptance there.

The Echomap Ultra with UHD will be your closest comparison I guess for now as I'm not sure the newer Echomap with UHD have been released yet. Look at those images, if anything the newer units should not be as good as the Ultra due to screen resolution. You should be able to find images under Garmin interpretation forum.

these are same lake just different docks ,but I can’t tell a difference between fish finding abilities between the two.Now bridges and such I have no idea as we don’t have those to really compare.

Mike Baker Iam sure he knows how to set up his birds to find crappie and that’s the name of the game finding fish which the garmins do very good.

Using Echomap Plus with GT54UHD, I haven’t seen ANY useful stuff in side imaging, in 30-35 ft of water, using 455khz.

The down view with 800kHz is pretty good, matching what my Raymarine show.

TOC...I've been watching the same videos from Mike Baker. It was actually his most recent part 1 & 2 videos which convinced me I need a better side scanning option.

Concerning the Garmin pics...are these Mikes pics or your pics? If yours, which unit and transducer were these captured with?

In this thread, if not mistaken, I believe he is talking about the GCV20 and GT34UHD transducer. About everyone I've talked too that's tried this setup also says it's no good. I've not researched enough to know the differences but what I'm hearing the new UHD 93SV's will be much better. I talked to Brian, from BBG Marine, today and he has the new units in stock.

After reading fishing couillon's thread maybe I should try the GT30 transducer...his pics looked pretty good.

the other pic is a school of bass on shadows

Like I have said seeing the fish is the important part to me bridges and tractors are not what Iam looking for but fish are .Thats why I love my garmins they produce.

As we have said the gt 30 is the best bang for the buck as you have high speed and side scan/down that you can mount out of the way and 2d in the hull .My uhd 34 is great in 15 or less and out to 50-60 feet .no way Iam letting go of the gt 30.
Iam sure the new uhd 93 will be a hit as you get a lot for 1100 and you can ad gt30 If you want for another 250 or so .I really liked my 93 just wanted to play with a bigger screen and now Iam moving up to the 8 series.Iam just crazy lol.

Like you, I too am most interested in seeing the schooling fish but in this pic I don't see fish. I see the dock and structure...no fish. The fish show up so clear when you watch Mike's videos using his HB.

These images are real clear. I think I need to spend some more time with my SideVu and various settings. Given my transducers are last year's CV52's I'm not sure how good the image will be. I've a couple trout tournaments coming up on Taneycomo in January so I'll have a few trips I can play with it.

The cv52 works great .In m experience you have to drive within a few feet of dock just as mike does in video to get the best returns. Its hard to get crappie returns when your 100 feet from a dock as everything gets smaller the farther out you go.Keepnthe range to 25-40 feet
